My freezer was getting overly cold, icing over, and not defrosting, while my fridge would get too warm because the vent would get frozen shut. Tried to buy a cheaper non-OEM part, and it failed. Decided to buy the authentic part, installed it in about 20 minutes, and now the fridge and freezer are both working like a dream. The toughest part is being gentle when breaking the piece into two and when putting it under the clips.

Pry the trim cover free at front then tip entire assembly down to release tabs at rear. Not necessary to remove bulb assembly or door switch. Two hooks securing internal clamshell cover require considerable force to push back.
