Wrong control board identified by Parts Direct

I used the tool on the Parts Direct website to enter my Kenmore refrigerator's model number so that I could get the appropriate control board. Only one control board was shown as an option for that model number. I ordered the part and it didn't fit my refrigerator's connections. A Sears repairman came and told me that the control board sent by Parts Direct is a "generic control board that fits most refrigerators", but it wasn't the right part for my refrigerator.
