Precise controls on Whirlpool range/microwave combos help you control heat to attain outstanding cooking results. When your Whirlpool range/microwave combo breaks down, Sears PartsDirect is here to help with repair parts and technical advice that can get your range working again.

How to fix your Whirlpool range/microwave combo when it won't work at all

When your range/microwave combo doesn't work at all, it's likely that the range has no electrical power for the display or controls. Possible causes are a tripped house circuit breaker for the range, a problem with the outlet cord (not plugged in or broken) or an internal wiring failure. A blown thermal fuse can prevent the control from powering up on some ranges. Some ranges have a relay control board that supplies power to the display and controls so a failed relay control board could prevent the range from working.

Unplug the range and check he terminal block on the back of the range for loose wires or broken terminals. Replace the terminal block if damaged.

Testing dinnerware or cookware before use in the microwave of your Whirlpool range/microwave combo

To test a dish or cookware for safe use inside your microwave, put it into the oven with a cup of water beside it. Start the microwave at 100% power for one minute. If the dish gets hot, do not use it.

Some dishes (melamine, some ceramic dinnerware, etc.) absorb microwave energy, becoming too hot to handle and slowing cooking times. Cooking in metal containers not designed for microwave use could damage the oven, as could containers with hidden metal (twist-ties, foil lining, staples, metallic glaze or trim).
