What to do when your Kelvinator dehumidifier doesn't remove moisture
After you first plug in the dehumidifier, give it 3 to 4 days to reach and maintain the humidity level you set.
To allow adequate air flow, place the dehumidifier at least 6 inches from walls.
So the dehumidifier can work efficiently, clean the air filter and grille if it's dirty.
If the dehumidifier's capacity is too small for the space, it can't remove humidity adequately; consider adding another dehumidifier to the area.
How to replace the evaporator thermistor in your Kelvinator dehumidifier
- Unplug the dehumidifier power cord from the wall outlet to disconnect electrical power.
- Pull the water collection bucket out of the front of the dehumidifier case. Pull the air filter out of the front grille. Remove the 2 screws at the bottom of the front grille that secure it to the frame. Lift the front grille carefully up and off of the front of the frame and set the front grille down in front of the dehumidifier.
- Disconnect the thermistor wire harness from the electronic control board. Pull the evaporator thermistor out of the copper sleeve on the side of the evaporator coil.
- Install the new thermistor on the evaporator and connect its wire harness to the electronic control board.
- Reassemble the dehumidifier and plug in the power cord to restore electrical power.
