Shocks are critical for a smooth operation

Changing my shocks after 18 years made a radical difference ....the washer quieted way down.... It's important to level it out also which I had to do first and definitely install the locking nuts which Sears generously gave.... keeping the machine from going out of adjustment in the future __

It's nice to hear the drum spin up to full speed without the bumping when it checks the load balance. The bushings on the ends have a slightly smaller diameter than the originals on my old 29042992. This required enlarging the gap on the pivot pins so they could be pushed through mounting brackets and the bushings.

Replaced OEM shock absorbers with this shock absorber kit. Installation was easy. However, these shocks had a bushing that had to be removed in order to insert original retaining pins.

You need these Shock Absorbers!

I ripped and replaced the old Shock Absorbers in my Kenmore 417-420. When you do this job, its easiest if you remove the back panel and control unit. Total time was 1.5 hours because is also vacuumed the inside, pulled and cleaned the drain hoses. The washer is more stable when it kicks into the turbo speed mode.

Sears Parts Direct should include four mounting pins with set of shock absorbers. The other hardware, steel bolts, are not needed.

These worked, but.....

The shock mount holes were about .050' smaller than the originals and I had to modify the mounting pins for them to work.
