The part does not fit.
Sears knows the part does not fit, they've had multiple complaints but choose to ignore the fact that the part does not fit the spindle period.

Exact match for original part
My existing flange wasn't damaged, but being 5 years old, it was showing its age. Several sections had pitting deep enough to cause concern. Replacing the flange on my washing machine is simple enough, being that it is a top-loader. Hopefully I can get another 5 years or more out of this one.
