Great match
Part was exact. Easy to replace by removing the battery tray and leaving the mower deck and all belts in place. As one other mentioned, you have to work the bolt in and out a few times to break the paint loose from the interior threads.

Wrong shaft design
The gear is designed wrong, the shaft had to be retapped so the screw would fit. I first went to Ace hardware to locate the proper screw with the help of two associates no luck. Then I ordered from Sears the proper screw, but they did not fit as well. Had to retap the shaft so screw would fit.

Part ok...Service Sucks!!!
Part was fine...no problems with it. Problem is their service!!! Tell you the product is in stock and it's NOT...they order their parts from somewhere else, several days later they tell you it's on backorder or it just doesn't ship till late...got this part 12 days later than original quoted receive date. And this was not first time I've had happen going through them...if need your part in reasonable time...order somewhere else

Replacing Steering Gear
My original gear had rounded worn teeth. I tried grinding the teeth so the 2 gears would hopefully join. No luck. Teeth were too short. I ordered this part and installed. Worked perfect. Familiarize yourself with the mower before attempting. Requires you to take the mower deck off and also one belt pulley. Add some Lithium grease to the two gears. Not a bad job for a DIY.
