• Electronic oven control board. The electronic oven control (EOC) board governs the timing and execution of oven functions in the range. It's usually attached to the control panel and often has a digital display clock mounted on the front of its housing.
• Oven door lock assembly. The oven door lock assembly is a safety mechanism that prevents accidental burns and oven fires by latching the door shut during self-cleaning. The door unlocks when the oven cools to a safe temperature (usually less than 200 degrees F). It's also used on ovens with the child lock-out feature. It's an electrical switch that turns on and off the associated surface element and also controls the how much heat the element produces.

What to do when the coil surface element on your Sunbeam electric range isn't heating properly

A break or flaw in a heating coil can prevent the surface element from heating properly. If a portion of the element doesn't heat, replace the surface element.

Coil surface elements plug into a terminal block to get power. The element won't heat if the terminal block fails. You'll likely see the terminal block body melted when it fails. Check the terminal block and replace it if it's melted or damaged.

A faulty control switch can also cause surface element heating problems. If a surface element heats evenly but you can't control the temperature using the surface element switch, replace the surface element switch.
