What to do when the pedal resistance won't change on your DP exercise bike
- If pedal resistance sticks on one setting, the resistance motor could be defective. Many DP exerciser cycles offer workout programs that vary resistance automatically during the routine. If resistance during the uphill climbs on a pre-programmed workout feels the same as the downhill treks, try manually changing the resistance. If you can change resistance manually, then you'll need to replace the console.
- Most DP exercise cycle models use battery power to change resistance, so checking for DC voltage going to the resistance motor is safe and easy. If batteries power your exercise cycle's control system, use a multimeter to measure voltage at the resistance motor when you manually adjust resistance on the console.
- Replace the console if it doesn't send voltage to the resistance motor when you manually change resistance.
- Replace the resistance motor if it doesn't run when getting voltage from the console.
Common DP exercise bike replacement parts
- Console. The console controls pedal resistance and records the time and distance of your routine. Replace the console if it doesn't power up or doesn't work properly.
- Resistance motor. The resistance motor adjusts pedal resistance. Replace the resistance motor if it doesn't adjust pedal resistance when it receives current from the console.
- Pedal. The pedal fits on the crank arm and lets you pedal the exercise cycle.
Sears PartsDirect has the DP Airgometer parts you need to keep your exercise cycle going
The Airgometer uses a fan for resistance so you don't have to worry about replacing a resistance motor or magnets. Use the detailed parts drawings on our Sears PartsDirect website to find the DP Airgometer parts you need to keep your exercise cycle in top shape.
