Craftsman DYT4000 engine crankshaft seal replaceme
Fairly painless to replace the seal. I did it without removing the engine from the mower. Removed the deck, drained engine oil, raised the front with a mower lift and blocked it up for safety, removed the pulleys and clutch assembly, Drilled a small hole on each side of the old seal, inserted metal screws in the holes and used a pry bar to pull the old seal. Tapped the new one in with a short piece of pvc pipe and a hammer and reassembled.

Me and my seal
well I finally got it all back together and no oil leaks. So between me and the seal, I must take all the credit. Hopefully there wont be a next time for another ten years.

Worked and the seal is tight
Shipping was a problem! Waited too long for an emergency part.
