Whirlpool Duet hybrid dryer error codes
These error code explanations can help you diagnose a problem with your Whirlpool Duet Hybrid dryer. Power failure
PF indicates a power failure occurred while the dryer was running. Press Start to continue the cycle or Power to clear the display. Check the power cord connection to the wall outlet.
Low line voltage
The L2 leg of 240-volt power is missing. Check the house circuit breaker that supplies the L2 leg of 240-volt power to the dryer. Reset the breaker if necessary. Unplug the dryer and check the power cord wiring on the dryer terminal block. Reconnect any loose power cord connections and wire the power cord according to the directions in the installation manual. Replace the power cord if damaged. With the dryer still unplugged, check the wiring connections on the main control board and reconnect any loose wires. Replace the control board if you find damage.
Main control board or user interface control failure
Unplug the dryer and check the wiring connections on the main control board and the user interface control. Reconnect any loose wires. Plug the dryer back in. If the code returns, replace the main control board. If the problem persists, replace the user interface control.
Stuck button
A stuck button on the user interface control causes this code. If you can't free the stuck key, replace the user interface control.
Outlet thermistor failure
Unplug the dryer and check the outlet thermistor wiring. Reconnect any loose wires. Replace the wire harness if damaged. Check the resistance of the outlet thermistor. You should measure about 10,000 ohms at room temperature. If the thermistor is defective, replace it. Replace the main control board if the outlet thermistor and wiring are okay.
P14 connector unplugged
Unplug the dryer and plug the P14 connector back into the main control board.
Moisture sensor failure
Unplug the dryer and check the moisture sensor wiring. Reconnect any loose wires. Replace the moisture sensor wire harness if damaged.
Moisture sensor shorted
Check for a metal object shorted across the 2 metal moisture sensor bars inside the dryer. Unplug the dryer and check the moisture sensor wire harness for pinched or damaged wires. Replace the moisture sensor wire harness if damaged.
Compressor thermistor failure
Unplug the dryer and check the compressor thermistor wiring. Reconnect any loose wires. Replace the wire harness if damaged. Check the resistance of the compressor thermistor. You should measure about 10,000 ohms at room temperature. If the thermistor is defective, replace it. Replace the main control board if the outlet thermistor and wiring are okay.
Heater relay failure
Unplug the dryer and check the wire harness connections on the main control board heater relay and the heating element. Reconnect any loose wires. Replace the wire harness if damaged. Replace the main control board if the wiring is okay.
Restricted air flow
Clean the lint filter and the secondary lint filter. Check the exhaust fan. Replace the exhaust fan if damaged.
Communication error
Communication between the main control board and user interface control has been lost. Unplug the dryer and check the wire harness between the main control board and the user interface control. Reconnect any loose wires. Replace the wire harness if damaged. Replace the user interface control. If the problem persists, replace the main control board.
Drain system failure
This error code displays when the dryer runs for 60 seconds with the float switch in the full position. Check the house drain system and the drain hose. Clear any blockage in the drain path. Replace the drain pump if damaged. Check the float switch. Release the float switch if stuck in the full position. Replace the float switch if damaged.
Secondary lint filter removed
Install the secondary lint filter if removed. Unplug the dryer and check the wiring connections on the secondary lint filter reed switch. Reconnect any loose wires. Replace the wire harness if damaged. Replace the secondary lint filter reed switch if damaged.
