Troubleshooting the ice maker in your Ikea top-mount refrigerator

Several problems can interfere with making ice. The ice maker could be jammed or broken, a dirty water filter or kinked water line could be blocking water flow or the water inlet valve could be clogged or faulty. Check the ice maker for jammed cubes and clear any ice buildup that you find. Replace the ice maker assembly if it doesn't cycle when activated. Replace the water inlet valve if it's clogged or won't fill the ice maker when activated. Replace any damaged or clogged water system tubing.

No ice in the ice maker also could mean that your refrigerator isn't cooling-the ice maker won't cycle if the freezer is warmer than 5 degrees F. Check for problems that could prevent the freezer from cooling such as dirty condenser coils or a damaged freezer door gasket.

Replacing a compressor start relay in a Ikea top-mount refrigerator

• Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
• Pull the refrigerator away from the wall. Remove the screws from the rear compartment cover and then remove the cover.
• Pry off the wire retainer holding the start relay on the compressor. Disconnect the wire harness from the start relay. Pull the start relay and run capacitor off the compressor.
• Transfer the run capacitor from the old start relay to the new start relay. Plug the new start relay with capacitor into the compressor terminals. Plug the wire harness into the new start relay. Reinstall the wire retainer to hold the start relay on the compressor.
• Position the rear compartment cover on the back of the refrigerator and reinstall the mounting screws.
• Plug in the refrigerator and push the refrigerator back into place.
