Replace the lid switch
Designed for safety, the lid switch on your top-load washer lets other components know when the lid is closed. Since the lid must be closed when the basket spins on all models and before the washer drive motor runs on some models, a defective lid switch can cause issues in cycling. If you determine the lid switch is at fault, use replacement washer parts to correct the problem immediately.
Replace the door lock assembly
On front-load washers, the door lock assembly serves the same purpose as the lid switch but includes a locking mechanism as well. If this part fails when the door is open, it won't lock, and if it fails when the door is closed, it won't open. The entire door lock assembly must be replaced if you determine this is the failed component.
Replace the electronic control board
The electronic control board that governs the execution and timing of washer functions can also cause failures mid-cycle that require washer repair help. Since this component controls the drive motor, fill valves and drain pump, the electronic control board, or mother board, must be replaced to regain normal operation if it's determined to be defective.
Sears PartsDirect stocks a wide range of Universal/Multiflex washer replacement parts that make repair simple and convenient.
