Testing the high-limit thermostat in your Sharp warming drawer

  • The high-limit thermostat can prevent the warming drawer from heating if the thermostat trips and doesn't reset.
  • You can check the high-limit thermostat using a multi-meter to see whether it's tripped and it's preventing the warming drawer from heating.
  • Shut off the house circuit breaker for the warming drawer to completely disconnect electrical power before accessing and testing the high-limit thermostat.
  • Disconnect the wires from the high-limit thermostat and measure the resistance through the high-limit thermostat using the multimeter. The meter should measure near 0 ohms of resistance through the high-limit thermostat if the thermostat is good. If the meter measures infinite resistance through the high-limit thermostat, you'll need to replace the high-limit thermostat.

Troubleshooting your Sharp warming drawer when it won't power up

  • Check the house circuit breaker for the warming drawer to see if the breaker tripped. Reset the house circuit breaker to restore power to the warming drawer if you find that the breaker tripped. If the breaker trips again as soon as you use the warming drawer, then you'll need to have a service technician examine and repair the warming drawer because the appliance has a short circuit in its wiring or a component that's causing the breaker to trip.
  • If the breaker isn't tripped, shut off the breaker to disconnect electrical power to the warming drawer and check the power supply wiring connections. Reconnect any loose wiring connections and repair any broken wires.
  • If power supply wiring connections are okay, check the wiring connections on the control. Reconnect any loose wires and repair any broken wires.
  • If control wiring connections are okay, then you may need to replace control components to fix the warming drawer.
