Element is great. Challenging to install
April 08, 2021

The element worked without a hitch. The only suggestion would be to add screws for the installation. The original screws were rusted. I stripped Philips heads trying to remove the screws. I purchased a stripped screw removal tool to no avail. I used a Dremel steel saw tool to cut a slot into the head and was successful in removing the screws. I had to go to a hardware to purchase new screws. Took time to find the correct screws ... thread, size, and type. The element was great but the removal and installation was a pain. Total time - approximately 4 hours.

Exact fit for burned up broiler element
October 06, 2020

A few days ago I experienced a beautiful light show as the broiler element went off like a very large sparkler! Very exciting (not). Ordered the part from Sears and four screws later it was installed. Power on, press Broil... no heat :( Bottom element worked fine, but no broil heat at all. Removed the new element and measured the voltage at the terminals. Zilch, nada, nothing. Traced wiring (via tech doc found behind controller panel) to a relay on the controller board. Researched buying new controller, not available! (well I found some refurbished boards online at $160 plus. Being an electrical tech/engineer, I decided to look at the controller myself. Suspected the relay, but when I separated the display board from the control board I noticed the printed circuit run going to the broiler relay was completely burned through. Thus no voltage getting to the elements. After bridging the pc foil with a heavy copper braid I tried it again. Success! not I can use my broiler again. BTW: I've had 40 years of experience fixing all sorts of electrical equipment. I don't recommend doing what I did without knowing what you're doing and taking all safety precautions.
