Website Data System and Customer Service Failure

The new drum was reasonable ($200) but the SPD transportation charge of $200 seemed excessive. The new drum was in great condition. I had a local appliance repair shop install it. They charged an hour's labor. When I ordered the part, the website data system showed it "in stock," and to expect a 3 week delivery. After a month (and no update from SPD), I checked the status of my order; now it was "back-ordered" with an unknown delivery date, though the website still showed it "in stock." I called customer service who couldn't explain the discrepancy or when the drum might be shipped. Two weeks later, I called customer service again. Same answer. About two months after placing the order, I was notified by e-mail that it had shipped and it arrived within about a week. I didn't really mind that it had taken two months. But I found the continual "in stock" website status and the lack of customer service staff that could answer my questions to be very frustrating. My recommendation: don't buy from Sears Parts Direct if you can get the part anywhere else. I suspect that everything is "in stock" to encourage sales.

You Can Do It!

The removal and installation of the drum is not an easy task, but with planning and organization you can do it. I would also recommend that you obtain new rollers kit so that any wear and tear on the rollers does not impact your new drum.
