Cleaning tips for the ceramic glass top on your LG electric cooktop

  • Use the right cleaner. You probably got a bottle of cleaner with your range. This is the best cleaner to use and the one that the manufacturer recommends.
  • Let the glass top cool, then scrape off spills. Gently scrape off burned-on crust from spills using a metal razor blade scraper. Use a new scraper or razor blade each time. Scraping the cooktop with an old razor can scratch the surface. Hold the blade at a 30-degree angle when scraping.
  • Polish the cooktop. After removing burned-on crust, shake the bottle of cleaner and then pour some on the cooktop. Rub the surface vigorously using a sponge, soft cloth or paper towel. Don't use steel wool or an abrasive pad. That can scratch the glass. Once you're finished cleaning the cooktop, wipe off all the residue. Buff the cooktop with a paper towel to restore the shine so it looks brand new.

LG electric cooktop common repair parts

  • Radiant surface element. The radiant surface element is positioned under the ceramic glass cooktop and provides heat for a cooking area of the cooktop.
  • Burner control switch. The burner control switch turns the burner element on and off and controls the heating level of the element.
  • Burner knob. The burner knob attaches to the burner control switch stem and lets you turn on and off the element. The burner knob also lets you control how much heat the element provides.
  • Indicator light. The indicator light tells you when a surface burner is being used.
