Common Wards hedge trimmer parts

  • Spark plug. The engine's spark plug ignites the fuel mixture inside the cylinder to drive the piston.
  • Carburetor rebuild kit. Use a carburetor rebuild kit to replace seals, gaskets and other components in the carburetor when the engine runs rough or won't start.
  • Air filter. The air filter traps dust and debris from air entering the carburetor.
  • Cutting blades. Replace the hedge trimmer cutting blades if they're dull or damaged.

Replacing the spark plug on your Wards hedge trimmer

  • Wear work gloves to protect your hands and work in a well-ventilated area.
  • Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug.
  • Using a spark plug wrench, unthread and remove the spark plug from the engine cylinder. Don't let debris fall into the cylinder while you have the spark plug removed.
  • Using a spark plug gap tool, set the spark plug gap according to the specification provided in your owner's manual for the hedge trimmer.
  • Carefully thread the spark plug into the engine and tighten the spark plug firmly using the spark plug wrench.
