Norge Gas ranges

Official Norge gas range parts

Norge makes gas ranges in many different styles and configurations. You're sure to find the type of gas range that fits your kitchen's needs. Norge gas ranges are known for their outstanding cooking performance. When your Norge gas range breaks down, find the replacement parts you need at Sears PartsDirect.

Troubleshooting your Norge gas range when the oven won't heat

  • Check the gas supply. If surface burners aren't working, check your gas supply cut-off valve to make sure it's open.
  • Test the igniter. Pull the bottom oven panel out and start the oven. If the igniter glows but doesn't light the burner, it may not be getting hot enough to open the safety gas valve. You'll likely need to replace the igniter.
  • If the igniter doesn't glow, measure resistance through the igniter using a multimeter. Replace the igniter if the meter measures infinite resistance.
  • Test the safety gas valve. Measure resistance through the safety gas valve using the multimeter. The meter should measure less than 5 ohms of resistance through the gas valve. If the meter measure infinite resistance, you'll need to have a service technician replace the safety gas valve.

How to replace the oven burner igniter in your Norge gas range

  • Unplug the range and turn off the gas supply shut-off valve.
  • Remove the oven racks. Remove the screws at the back of the bottom oven panel. Lift the back of the panel slightly and push back to release the bottom oven panel from the retaining lip. Push down on a front corner of the bottom panel so it tips enough that you can grasp the sides of the panel. Work the bottom oven panel up and out of the oven.
  • Note how the carbide electrode on the igniter overlaps the holes in the burner. Use a 1/4-inch nut driver to remove the 2 hex-head screws from the bracket that holds the igniter on the burner.
  • Detach the igniter plug from the wire harness by releasing the locking tabs on the connector. Pull the igniter out of the oven and set it aside for disposal.
  • Being careful not to touch the carbide electrode with your fingers, plug the igniter into the wire harness.
  • Position the new igniter so its holes line up with those on the mounting bracket. Insert the mounting screws and tighten firmly. Push the wires down, out of the way of the burner.
  • Work the bottom oven panel into place. Slide the oven racks into the oven.
  • Open the gas supply shut-off valve for the range and plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
