How to fix common Admiral dishwasher problems
Won't fill. First, make sure that the water supply cut-off valve is open. If it is, check whether an object is preventing the overfill float from moving up and down freely. If the float is stuck in its highest position, the fill valve won't let water into the tub.
If those solutions don’t fix the fill problem, the overfill float switch or water inlet valve may be broken. A failed electronic control board or timer could also prevent the dishwasher from filling.
Stops mid-cycle. Open and firmly close the door to make sure it's latched. Check whether the house circuit to the dishwasher is tripped. If a light switch on the wall near the dishwasher controls power to the dishwasher, make sure it's in the On position.
If these basic tips don’t help, then a broken door latch, faulty control panel or failed electronic control board could be the problem. In some Admiral dishwashers, a failed heating element causes the dishwasher to stop. Replace the heating element if it's broken.
Dishes don't get dry. Rinse aid helps water shed from dishes so they dry faster. Refill the rinse-aid dispenser when it's empty. Replace the dispenser assembly if it isn’t dispensing rinse aid.
The heated drying setting is an option to enhance drying. You may have this option turned off to save energy, but if your dishes aren’t drying as well as you’d like them to, you might want to consider turning it back on. Consult your owner's manual and select the cycle options that fit your needs and your energy usage goals.
If your dishes don't get dry even though you've selected the heated drying option, the heating element could be broken or the high-limit thermostat for the element may have tripped in error, preventing the element from heating. A malfunctioning vent or drying fan could also prevent dishes from drying.
Troubleshooting an Admiral dishwasher that won't power up
Many dishwashers have a switch, often next to the garbage disposal switch, which you must turn on for the dishwasher to get power. Turn this switch on if it's off.
Next, check the house circuit breaker. Because you often can't tell whether the breaker has tripped, reset the breaker for the dishwasher by shutting it off and turning it back on. Check the dishwasher now to see if it powers up.
Make sure the dishwasher power cord is plugged into its electrical outlet. If the dishwasher's power cord is connected directly into the junction box, shut off the house circuit breaker for the dishwasher and check the power cord connections in the junction box.
If these tips don't help, then a wiring failure, blown circuit board fuse or failed electronic control board is likely preventing the dishwasher from powering up.
