Troubleshooting your JVC home theater system when its speakers won't play

  • Check the output settings on your home theater system's amplifier control panel first. Make sure that you have the correct speaker output selected. Adjust the audio output settings if necessary.
  • Check to see if you have the headphones plugged into the headphone jack. Unplug the headphones to play the speakers if you find the headphones plugged into the headphone jack.
  • Check the speaker wire connections. Make sure that speaker wires are plugged fully into the speaker jacks on the back of the amplifier. Make sure that the speaker wires are securely connected to the speakers. Reconnect any loose wiring connection.
  • Check speaker wires for damage. Repair or replace any damaged speaker wire.

Safety tips for your JVC home theater system

  • Unplug the home theater system's power cord from the electrical wall outlet before performing any repair, cleaning or maintenance.
  • If you're not going to use the home theater system for a long period of time, disconnect the power cord from the electrical wall outlet.
  • Use a surge protector to reduce the possibility of electronic control board and internal wiring damage due to electrical surges or spikes in current through the power supply during electrical storms.
  • Don't use the home theater system if you spill liquids on the cabinet because the liquids can short out components inside the home theater system amplifier and cause electrical shock. Unplug the home theater system and have a service technician examine and repair the system before using it again.
