What to do when the auger isn't turning on your Yard Man gas snowblower

A broken shear pin is the most common reason the auger won't turn properly so replace any broken shear pins. Worn or loose belts also prevent the auger from spinning. Check and adjust the belts and replace any broken or worn belts. Check the auger drive cable and adjust it if loose or replace the cable if it's broken. Examine and replace the auger if it's damaged and won't spin. Replace the gear case if it won't spin the auger.

Our video on how to troubleshoot problems with the auger also can help you determine why your snowblower auger isn't turning.

Popular replacement parts for Yard Man gas snowblowers

  • Electric starter. The electric starter attaches to the engine crankshaft and includes a cord that plugs into an electrical outlet to provide the starter motor with power. Plug the electric starter into an electrical outlet and push the button on the starter motor to start the engine.
  • Carburetor rebuild kit. The carburetor rebuild kit has the parts and gaskets needed to refurbish a carburetor to keep the engine running smoothly.
  • Auger drive cable. The auger drive cable is a control cable that connects the auger control lever on the control panel to the engagement lever in the auger drive system.
  • Fuel filter. The fuel filter attaches to bottom of the fuel tank and connects to the fuel line. It filters particles from the gasoline as fuel moves from the tank to the carburetor.
