Most common Nautilus E616 replacement parts that need replacing

  1. Elliptical console. The elliptical console displays the speed, distance traveled, elapsed time and other user data and is powered by a battery. The console also controls elliptical pedal resistance.
  2. Crank arm. The crank arm spins the crank arm pulley, which rotates the drive belt to spin the flywheel.
  3. Flywheel. The flywheel spins next to the C-magnet and provides pedal resistance as it disrupts the magnetic field of the C-magnet.
  4. C-magnet. The C-magnet surrounds a portion of the flywheel and creates variable resistance to the flywheel. The closer the C-magnet sits to the flywheel, the greater the flywheel resistance.

How to fix your Nautilus elliptical when resistance won't change

  1. If pedal resistance sticks on one setting, the resistance motor could be defective. Replace the resistance motor.
  2. Many ellipticals offer workout programs that vary resistance automatically during the routine. If resistance during the uphill climbs on a pre-programmed workout feels the same as the downhill treks, try manually changing the resistance. If you can change resistance manually, then you'll likely need to replace the console.
  3. Most ellipticals use battery power to change resistance, so checking for DC voltage going to the resistance motor is safe and easy. If batteries power your elliptical's control system, use a multimeter to measure voltage at the resistance motor when you manually adjust resistance on the console.
  4. Replace the console if it doesn't send voltage to the resistance motor when you manually change resistance.
  5. Replace the resistance motor if it doesn't run when getting voltage from the console.
