MTD Power pruners

Official MTD power pruner parts

Sears PartsDirect is a leading supplier of repair parts for MTD power pruners. Although MTD power pruners typically last for many years, parts can eventually wear down and break. When that happens, you can trust Sears PartsDirect to have the MTD replacement parts you need to get your power pruner up and running again.

Adjusting chain tension on your MTD power pruner

  • Allow the chain to cool down before adjusting chain tension. Wear work gloves to protect your hands when adjusting chain tension.
  • Make sure guide bar nuts are only finger tight before adjusting the chain tension.
  • Check that the adjusting block is in the oval adjusting hole on the guide bar.
  • Turn the adjusting screw clockwise to adjust chain tension. There should be no gap between side links of the chain and the bottom of the guide bar after adjusting chain tension.
  • Tighten guide bar nuts firmly.
  • Check chain bar tension after a few minutes of use and adjust chain tension again if necessary.

Safety guidelines to follow when using your MTD power pruner

  • Read and understand the owner's manual before operating the power pruner. All operators should be familiar with the power pruner controls and safety guidelines before using the power pruner.
  • Watch what you're doing when trimming limbs and cutting branches. Use common sense and plan to safely avoid falling limbs and branches when pruning. Don't operate the power pruner when you're tired.
  • Wear snug-fitting clothes when operating the power pruner. Don't wear loose clothing or jewelry. They can get caught in the moving chain on the power pruner.
  • Wear work gloves, eye protection, steel-toed boots and a dust mask when using the power pruner.
