Parts you might be looking for

Most common Kenmore Elite gas cooktop parts that need replacing

  1. Burner switch. The burner switch sends current to the igniter electrode to light the burner when you turn on a burner control valve.
  2. Ignition module. The ignition module detects when you turn on a burner and sends the current to the igniter electrode to light the burner.
  3. Wire harness. The wire harness connects electrical components inside the cooktop.
  4. Power cord. The power cord supplies the cooktop with electrical current for spark ignition.

How to replace the spark module on a Kenmore Elite gas cooktop

  1. Unplug the cooktop's power cord from the wall outlet and then close the gas supply shut-off valve.
  2. Remove all the cooktop grates and then lift the gas burner caps off the burner heads. Remove the screws that hold the burner heads in place and then remove the burner heads.
  3. Pull the control knobs off of the burner control valves. Remove the screws that secure the main top to the top of the burner orifice holders. Lift the main top off of the cooktop and set it aside.
  4. Disconnect all the wires attached to the spark module. Release the locking tab and then remove the spark module from the mounting bracket. Discard the spark module.
  5. Position the new spark module on the mounting bracket and push it into place. The locking tab should snap into place when the module is in the right position. Connect the wires to the new spark module.
  6. Position the main top on top of the burner orifice holders. Insert and tighten the screws that secure the main top to the orifice holders. Push the control knobs on the burner control valves.
  7. Position the burner heads in the correct locations, screw them into place and tighten the screws firmly. Cover the burner heads with the burner caps in the correct locations. Set the grates into place on the cooktop.
  8. Plug the power cord into the wall outlet and open the gas shut-off valve.

Kenmore Elite glass stove top replacement

  1. Shut off electrical power. Electric stove tops typically have 2 house fuses or a double breaker, one for each 120-volt leg of the 240-volt power. To prevent electrical shock and damage to the cooktop components, remove both fuses or shut off both breakers (if a clip connects the double breakers, shutting off one should shut off both).
  2. Pull the cooktop out of the counter. Remove the screws from the brackets that hold the cooktop in the counter. Carefully lift the cooktop up and set it on the counter.
  3. Remove the glass top. Remove the screws that secure the burner box to the glass top. Lift the glass top up slightly and unplug the wire harness connection on the user interface controls. Lift the cooktop off of the burner box and discard it.
  4. Install the new glass stove top. Position the new glass top on the burner box and plug in the user interface control wire harness. Replace the screws to secure the glass top to the burner box.
  5. Reinstall the cooktop in the counter. Lower the cooktop into the counter. Reinstall the mounting bracket screws. Restore electrical power to the cooktop.
