How to fix your Kenmore gas grill when burners aren't getting hot enough

  1. Problems with gas flow can keep a gas grill from getting hot enough. First, make sure there's plenty of gas in the tank-the diminished gas flow from a nearly empty tank won't supply the burners with enough gas to heat properly. Our video shows how to check the level of propane in a tank.
  2. If the tank's full but gas won't flow freely to the burners, reset the pressure regulator.
  3. Replace the pressure regulator if it won't allow gas to flow properly to the grill after resetting the regulator.
  4. Clogs inside the burner tubes or spills covering the burner tube ports can also inhibit heating. Clean the burner tubes so the burners heat properly and replace any damaged burner tubes.
  5. Perform routine maintenance on your grill to help keep the burners working efficiently. Also check and adjust the alignment of the burner tubes to the gas valves so the burners heat properly.
  6. Check the operation of the burner valves on the manifold and replace the manifold if gas doesn't flow properly to the burner tubes when you open the manifold's valves.

Most common Kenmore grill parts that need to be replaced

  1. Grates. Grill grates rust and break over time. Replace the grill grates if they're rusted or damaged.
  2. Wheels. Broken or damaged wheels cause grill instability. Replace the grill's wheels if they're broken or damaged.
  3. Lid. Corrosion holes in the lid will allow too much air into the cooking area. Replace the grill lid if it's corroded or damaged.
