Sanitizing your GE faucet water filter system upon installation

  • Be sure that the water supply cut-off valve for the filter is shut off.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly before beginning the sanitation process.
  • Remove all filters from the system before sanitizing the equipment.
  • Remove the filter housing cap and fill the filter housing with water to about 1-inch from the top. Add 1-oz. of liquid chlorine bleach.
  • Replace the filter housing cap.
  • Slowly open the water supply cut-off valve and then open the faucet to flush water through the filter. You should smell the bleach and water solution coming out of the faucet. Once you smell the bleach, shut off the faucet and allow the bleach and water solution to soak for 20 minutes inside the filter housing.
  • After 20 minutes, open the faucet and flush water through the filter until the bleach smell is gone.

Pressure testing water connections for your GE faucet water filter

  • Open the water supply shut off valve going to your faucet water filter.
  • Turn on the faucet to purge air from the water filter system.
  • Shut off the faucet when all air is purged and water runs smoothly through the faucet.
  • Wait for 2 hours to allow pressure to fully build up inside the faucet water filter system.
  • Carefully check all water line fittings for water leaks. Tighten any leaking fittings.
