Galaxy Refrigerators

Official Galaxy refrigerator parts

Galaxy refrigerators offer the convenience of easy access to items stored in the refrigerator compartment and flexible food storage options. Innovative controls in Galaxy refrigerators help keep your food at the right temperature to prevent spoilage. When your refrigerator isn't cooling as it should, find the Galaxy refrigerator parts you need to fix the problem at Sears PartsDirect.

Most common Galaxy refrigerator parts that need replacing

  1. Condenser fan. The condenser fan is in the machine compartment of the refrigerator next to the compressor. It moves air across the condenser coils to help cool the hot refrigerant coming out of the compressor. The refrigerant is cooled before it moves through the expansion device and into the evaporator.
  2. Defrost bi-metal thermostat. The defrost bi-metal thermostat is a safety device attached to the evaporator coil. The defrost bi-metal thermostat shuts off the refrigerator defrost heater if the heater gets hot enough to damage the evaporator.
  3. Electronic control board. The refrigerator electronic control board controls the major electro-mechanical components in the refrigerator. When the electronic control board senses the compressor needs to run to cool the refrigerator, it sends voltage to the compressor and fans. It then receives input from temperature sensors to monitor the temperatures inside the refrigerator and freezer sections. With this information, the electronic control board controls the defrost cycle.
  4. Evaporator fan motor. The evaporator fan motor blows air across the evaporator coils and through the refrigerator cabinet for cooling. Replace the evaporator fan motor if it won't run when activated.

How to replace the refrigerator thermistor in a Galaxy refrigerator

  1. Unplug the refrigerator or shut off the circuit breaker for the refrigerator.
  2. Locate the thermistor in the refrigerator section; it’s under a small plastic cover attached to the surface of the back wall, side wall or ceiling. Release the thermistor cover and pull the thermistor out of the cover.
  3. Pull the thermistor out of the mounting clip and unplug the wire harness. Remove the thermistor.
  4. Attach the thermistor to the mounting clip and then to the wire harness.
  5. Reattach the thermistor's cover and reinstall any shelves you removed.
  6. Plug in the refrigerator or turn on the house circuit breaker to restore power.
