  • Bar and chain oiler. The chainsaw bar and chain oiler directs oil to the bar and chain to help the chain move freely on the bar while in use.
  • Chain. The chain rotates around the edge of the cutting bar to cut through limbs and branches.
  • Chainsaw brake. The brake stops the chain when engaged or in the event of kickback.
  • Clutch. The chainsaw clutch connects to the crankshaft and engages the clutch drum to spin the chain.

How to sharpen the chain on your Craftsman electric chainsaw

  • Unplug the chainsaw to disconnect electrical power.
  • Check the chain for proper tension. Adjust the chain tension if necessary.
  • Position the sharpening file holder level at 90-degrees to it rests on the top edges of the cutter and depth gauge.
  • Align the 30-degree file hold marks parallel with the bar and to the center of the chain.
  • Sharpen the cutters on one side of the chain. File from the inside of each cutter to the outside edge.
  • Turn the chainsaw around the sharpen the cutters on the other side of the chain.
