Most common ComfortAire dehmidifiers parts that need replacing

  1. Air filter. The air filter is behind the grill in the dehumidifier case. The air filter traps dust and debris in the air that would contaminate the evaporator fins and condenser coils.
  2. Collection bucket. The collection bucket is a container that’s positioned under the evaporator to collect the condensate water from the evaporator.
  3. Electronic control board. The dehumidifier electronic control board controls the major electro-mechanical components in the dehumidifier. The electronic control board monitors input from the humidistat and activates the compressor to dehumidify the space when humidity exceeds the level the user sets. Input from the thermistor (temperature sensor) on the evaporator is also used to detect frost on the evaporator. The electronic control board shuts off the compressor when excessive frost builds up on the evaporator. With the compressor shut off, the frost melts and the condensate water drips into the collection bucket. Once the fins are clear of frost, the electronic control board restarts the compressor if the space needs dehumidification.
  4. Humidistat. The dehumidifier humidistat is a sensor that detects the water vapor or percent of humidity in the room. The humidistat provides input to the dehumidifier’s electronic control board through a wire harness connection.

How to replace the evaporator thermistor in your ComfortAire dehumidifier

  1. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet to disconnect electrical power.
  2. Remove the screws that secure the outer case to the humidifier. Pull the outer case off the dehumidifier.
  3. Disconnect the thermistor wire harness from the electronic control board. Pull the thermistor out of the dehumidifier.
  4. Install the new thermistor on the evaporator and plug the thermistor wire harness into the electronic control board.
  5. Reinstall the outer case on the dehumidifier and plug the power cord in to restore electrical power.
