part is useless
the wand release needed replacing. My bad for thinking the wand would come apart easily. It did not and the 12$ with shipping part is useless. I can still release the attachments by turning the wand upsidedaow when pressing the release button. Not Sears direct parts problem. JC

Replacing Vacuum Release Button
The exploded parts diagram that I found online helped me figure out how to open the wand handle to replace the broken button but I broke a couple of retained tabs doing this. A couple of disassembly photos or diagrams would have been a great help. I was able to successfully replace the release button and I am satisfied with the result.

Worked as expected.
This part was straight forward to replace in the handle of the vacuum hose wand, but it is not simple due to the snap clips without location indicators. An advanced process. The new part is exactly the replacement needed. Glad I kept the coil spring though as that is not listed as a separate part, but is needed to make the clip mechanism work.

WASN'T THAT EASY BUT WE GOT IT DONE
MY HUSBAND INSTALLED THE BUTTON RELEASE AND HE HAD A LITTLE HARD TIME BUT WAS SUCCESSFUL AND IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM

flimsy piece that's a pain to install
this is the 2nd time i'm replacing this item, fails in the same place, where 2 pieces are fused/glued together.
