FIXED THE PROBLEM
Plastic start button on original control had snapped off and was repaired with super glue a few years ago. Finally the plastic around the repair let go and a new control panel was cheaper and much quicker to install than a new microwave. Removal is 3 screws, swapping the control unit is another screw after 4 electrical connectors are in plugged, and the unit was up and running in about 10 minutes.

Great move on my part
When I bought my home two years ago, there were problems with the buttons on the microwave. Until three weeks ago, I was able to get them to work but then nothing. I decided it was time to get my screwdriver out and see what the problem was. Man, was I happy to find I get get the part on line! By taking pics before disconnecting the five plugs, I was able to put it back together correctly and I can't tell you how nice it is to know I can work the microwave the way it was intended. It really was pretty easy to do.
