Disconnect the cutting head and guard from the old drive shaft housing by removing the screws. You may have to pull the drive shaft from the cutting head. Very easy to do. Insert the new drive shaft housing and drive shaft into the cutting head. Then attach the cutting head and guard onto the new drive shaft.

Super Easy!

Old trimmer problem: the little hole that holds the gear box in place was damaged from normal wear and tear, which allowed the gear box to move. I had already purchased a new gear box (the angle piece that connects the shaft and the trimmer head). Replacing the shaft is just a couple screws and done. Perfect fit. Took about 3 minutes.
